Section 1: Project Rationale (approx. 100 words)

Since starting the course in September 2014, What do you know now, and what does it mean to you, (compared with what you knew and could do before you started the course). How does what you know now influence your choice of pathway and your project proposal.

What skills and processes are you competent with?

What would you like to learn more about?

Since starting this unit I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to do a 2D animation. Even though I was learning 3D animation in Maya, I felt that my skills with my concept art need to be improved. Especially seeing as I want to do 2D animation in University I can use this project as an added part on to my portfolio. I will improve my art skills and gave myself a realistic goal for the time limit that we have. If I have time I could also include a 3D model of my 2D character for my exhibition.
Section 2 Project Concept: (approx. 200 words)

Clearly explain the concept and aims of your project and the context, research and ideas that will support its development. What are the historical, economic, social, mass media, cultural, issues, cultural events and political influences?  What is it you want to communicate and who is your audience? Where will your media product exist and how will it be distributed? What access will you need to workshops? How will you use independent study?

I aim to create a minute long trailer for a short story/narrative I wrote in the first two weeks. I came up with 2 different stories of what I could do with just the beginning middle and end. I chose a story about a serial killer of greedy corporations that were overworking and underpaying their workers so they can have more control over them. The killer is murdering guilty people, stealing their money to give back to the working people, like a modern day psycho Robin Hood. What I want is for both sides to do wrong and for there to be no heroes in the end.

The economic stress and struggle of the working class that is currently putting people on edge making it relevant to the current real life situation. I want to show the consequences of greed for the actions of these companies through a fantasy world where they are punished for their actions. I want to show the inequality in our modern capitalist society and the struggle of the working class. Also to show the acceptance of their struggle just so they have enough money to provide for their family. Finally the conformity of citizens

Section 3 Evaluation and Reflection: (Approx 50 words)

Explain how you will reflect on, and evaluate your work, as both an on-going activity and at the conclusion of the project. You should describe how you intend to record your decision making and how you will document changes to your ideas as work progresses.  The evaluation should be referred back to your aims. It must be reflective (‘why? Because?’) and analytical rather than a description of actions completed.

I will do a reflective journal every week as well as an evaluation at the very end to reflect on the work. Even with these blog posts I will be drawing in my sketchbook I will caption to reflect on it. I will put the captions on my blog on the side of the image.
Section 4: Research Sources and Bibliography

Record the initial research sources, both primary and secondary, that you intend to use.  Your sources of research should be as wide as possible, including libraries, museums, galleries, journalism, articles, media, galleries, books, film/video, magazines, TV/radio programmes, web sites etc.
